TRADITIONAL GAMES IN SABAHAN

KAAMATAN FESTIVAL


Kadazandusun community is made up of 40 sub-ethnic group. The festival gives the wider public a change

to watch the cultural activities and traditions of many these communities,such as traditional folk game and

folk dance , as well as the ornate costume that many wear for the occasion.

They many traditional games , for examples ,(arm wrestling), (knucle wrestling) , (blow piping) , (catalpulting) , and (Tug of War).

Others attractions on display are the traditional house where there are cultural dances,food and games.

The traditional house have are group , namely Penampang kadazan , the Ranau Liwan , Papar Kadazan , the

 Tindal Community of Kota Belud , the Tatana from Kuala Penyu , and many more.

The public having fun playing the traditional games of the Kadazandusun games.

Houses at Hongkod Koisan is the Murut House that houses the Lansaran. The Lansaran is a bouncy ‘dance floor’ affair, a bamboo and rattan platform laced together to provide a trampoline-like bounce when people jump on it. Occupying the center of the Murut long house the Lansaran can usually take 20 people, some as many as 40.
